By Danielle Gruninger, for Senator Gershaw School

Students at Senator Gershaw School had the opportunity to participate in the Youth in Philanthropy program through the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta. Five students formed the committee including Hayden Meyer, Gabe Thacker, Ayden Rooks, Alan Janzen, and Rylie Schiebelbein. They had the opportunity to explore our community needs, local charities, and the impact of giving. The students decided to donate to a cause close to their hearts— the Kale Porteous Memorial Splash Park. It is an honuor to support families and youth in the Bow Island area with a fun, recreational opportunity in memory of a former Senator Gershaw student. The committee would like to thank the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta for the excellent learning opportunity.
