County of Forty Mile council discussed the changes to the municipality’s Dust Control Policy at their Feb. 23 regular meeting.
The changes were made to some of the wording in the policy and the addition of a couple more haul routes.
Two haul routes were added from Range Road 130 from Township Road 60 to Township Road 42 and the second route is Range Road 112, from Township Road 90 to Township Road 110.
“It does get quite dusty and they (public works staff) figured we’re going to use it quite a bit now. We just decided to put it in the policy,” said Craig WIdmer, county reeve.
Dust Control was changed to Dust Abatement.
Solar farm
Council approved first reading for the amendment to Land Use Bylaw to allow for the addition of the Solar Facility District designation as an overlay on top of the existing agriculture designation for the proposed Aira Renewable Energy 450-megawatt solar energy project between Pakowki Road and Township Road 90.
A public hearing will be held on March 23 at 11 a.m. before the second and third reading will be considered.
Milk River Watershed Council Canada
Council approved for the county to donate to the Milk River Watershed Council of Canada’s spring online auction in April.
Proceeds from the event go towards watershed planning, monitoring and stewardship within the community.
