The SouthGrow Regional Initiative, in collaboration with MNP LLP, Ridge Utilities and Community Futures Lethbridge Region, has opened applications for the Agri-Food Futures Scholarship Program.
This esteemed scholarship program aims to support local youth pursuing a rewarding career in the agri-food industry in southern Alberta. Scholarships worth $2,500 each will be awarded to three exceptional students attending Lethbridge College, the University of Lethbridge, and Red Crow College.
The Agri-Food Futures Scholarships, established by the Board of Directors of the SouthGrow Regional Initiative in 2019, reflect the organization’s commitment to nurturing and empowering the next generation of agri-food industry professionals in southern Alberta, said SouthGrow in a press release on Monday
SouthGrow is a regional economic development alliance comprising 30 communities in south-central Alberta. Its mission is to unlock new economic opportunities for the region while maintaining the exceptional quality of life enjoyed by its citizens.
Southgrow is announcing the Ridge Utilities Scholarship and the MNP Scholarship in addition to the SouthGrow scholarship as part of the Agri-Food Futures Scholarship Program. These valuable partnerships underscore the collective objective of supporting the regional agri-food industry while promoting the growth and success of talented individuals within it.
Scholarship recipients will be carefully selected through a comprehensive evaluation process that considers various factors, including the applicants’ commitment to the industry, potential impact, and alignment with the values of inclusivity and equal opportunities. The selection committee will ensure diverse representation across gender, background, and educational institutions.
“We strongly encourage all eligible students enrolled in agriculture or ag-tech programs at Lethbridge College, the University of Lethbridge, or Red Crow College to seize this remarkable opportunity and apply for the Agri-Food Futures Scholarship Program,” said Jim Willet, Board Chair of the SouthGrow Regional Initiative in the release.
“This program not only provides financial support but also serves as a launching pad for students to make a positive and lasting impact on the agri-food industry across southern Alberta.”
