A handcuffed man who ran from the Brooks provincial courthouse was apprehended following a short chase Jan. 24 after a short “lockdown” was implemented at a nearby school.
Brooks RCMP report that the 50-year-old man was initially arrested one day earlier after they pulled over a car which authorities say was stolen and transporting stolen jewelry and amounts of cocaine.
The man, Clark Hills, was attending court on those charges Jan. 24 when police say he escaped custody of Alberta Sheriffs before he was arrested “moments later.”
Hills, a recent resident of British Columbia, will be held at Medicine Hat Remand Centre and also answer charges in that province.
