Cypress County gives out a series of scholarships and bursaries each year, supporting young residents on their path to further education.
The county awards two $1,000 scholarships annually to students who reside in the county, including Ralston or Elkwater. Students are still eligible if residing in the county but attending school elsewhere, such as Medicine Hat or Brooks.
Eligible students must be currently attending high school, and register for their first year of studies at a recognized post-secondary institution, with preference given to those in a technical program.
Applicants will be selected based upon a combination of many factors, including citizenship and community involvement, academic performance, completeness of the scholarship application form and accompanying letter. Other criteria may be set by the committee appointed by council.
Applications are due Sept. 30. Forms and additional information are available on the county website.
