Get ready for an unforgettable evening of music at the Western Seer Records Showcase, featuring the talents of Belle Plaine, Blake Berglund, and Lachlan Neville. Set to take place at The Bow Theatre on Friday, November 29, this is an event that promises to capture the hearts of music lovers. Doors open at 7:30 pm, with the show kicking off at 8:30 pm.
Belle Plaine is an award-winning independent songwriter known for her dynamic range, from backing by symphony orchestras to honky-tonk bar bands. Her upcoming third studio album, “The Weather,” continues to showcase her exceptional talent as a writer, producer, and artist. Her versatility has seen her perform at a variety of festivals, including the Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion and JUNOfest, and she even directed her debut documentary in 2022.
Blake Berglund, a Canadian music powerhouse, recently released his sixth full-length album, “What’s Left of the Right,” a double LP concept record that blends genres and delivers a powerful political statement. Besides being a seasoned producer and multi-instrumentalist, Blake has founded Western Seer Records with his wife, Belle, to bring more talent to the forefront of the music scene.
Lachlan Neville, a promising young talent and recent high school graduate, has already made waves in the music world. His debut album is slated for release in early 2025 under Western Seer Records.
In a candid interview, Blake shared insights into his musical journey.
“I began my journey at just three years old when my mom enrolled me in piano lessons to curb my habit of banging on the keys with one finger. By the time I graduated high school, I had achieved my grade six in piano from the Royal Conservatory and a grade two in theory, laying a solid foundation for my musical aspirations,” he says.
“My transition to guitar at 17 marked a new chapter. I played in heavy metal bands across Alberta in the 2000s, but it was discovering Willie Nelson in the mid-2000s that truly transformed my song writing approach. Also, learning that George Strait didn’t write his own songs but relied on songwriters, inspired me to pursue song writing.”
