Starting earlier this month, eligible Albertans can now receive a COVID-19 booster at no cost.
Participating pharmacies and Primary Care Alberta health clinics across the province will provide additional immunizations to individuals at an increased risk of severe outcomes.
Eligible groups include adults over 80, residents of long-term care homes, individuals who are moderate to severely immunocompromised and adults 65-79 with an underlying condition that places them at higher risk of severe COVID-19 infection.
Albertans over the age of 12 can schedule appointments through their local pharmacy. Some locations offer walk-in appointments.
Appointments for eligible children under 12 can be booked through Primary Care Alberta health clinics online, or by calling 811.
Guidelines recommend waiting at least three months between COVID-19 immunizations.
Albertans not eligible for a provincially-funded dose can purchase one at participating community pharmacies.
