Town of Bow Island
With the arrival of warmer weather, the Town of Bow Island would like to remind residents that compost will only be collected in paper bags- plastic bags will not be accepted.
Spring cleanup is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26. To participate, please ensure all materials are placed in your back lane before this date and meet the following guidelines:
– grass and leaves must be in brown paper bags only
– branches must be cut, securely bundled, and no longer than 48 inches with a maximum diameter of six inches
– materials must be neatly stacked for collection
Please note that garbage, appliances, electronics, dirt, cement, and loose branches will not be accepted.
Residents are also asked to prune backyard trees as needed to ensure clear access for collection vehicles.

Alberta Summer Games

We are looking for people in our community to volunteer for the 2026 Southern Alberta Summer Games, taking place July 8–11 in the County of Forty Mile.
This exciting event, returning for the first time in over 30 years, is a unique opportunity to be part of something truly special.
Volunteers play a vital role in bringing the Games to life, and we are committed to working with your availability to ensure a flexible and rewarding experience.
As a volunteer, you will also receive a wicked t-shirt and free lunch!

County of Forty Mile issues statement on strychnine inquiries
The County of Forty Mile wishes to advise landowners that strychnine is in the process of being returned and is not yet available for purchase or distribution.
Currently, no definite timeline or implementation. Anticipated availability: 6-8 weeks.
At this time, strychnine is not yet available in Canada. However, landowners who are interested can request to be added to a waitlist to be notified when it becomes available.
Please note that there will be strict regulations and requirements that must be met before any purchase can be approved. Additional details on eligibility and application steps will be shared once the product is officially released.
We will communicate updates through our website, local newspaper and social media as information becomes available.
