Etzikom residents and area families will have a chance to lace up their shoes, dust off their bicycles, and maybe even don an eye patch later this month as the Etzikom Fun Run returns on May 30 with a lighthearted pirate theme.
The event starts at the at the Etzikom Community Hall, with on-site registration beginning at 10 am. The registration fee is $5, and the races will get underway at 11 am.
This year’s fun run promises something for all ages, with a pre-school race for the youngest participants, a 2K run/walk, and a 4K bike ride. Organizers are also adding a playful twist to the day by encouraging runners and riders to embrace the pirate theme. Prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed participant and/or the best-decorated bike, adding a bit of extra swashbuckling spirit to the event. There will also be prizes for participants aged 12 and under.
After the races wrap up, participants and spectators can stay for lunch at the hall for $5. It is expected to be a good chance for neighbours, friends, and families to visit and enjoy a meal together after the morning’s activities.
Those who want to save time on event day can pre-register in advance. Participants also have the option to order a t-shirt for $15. Pre-registration details can be found on the Etzikom Facebook Page, where organizers have posted a QR code for sign-up.
With a mix of friendly competition, family fun, and community spirit, the Etzikom Fun Run is shaping up to be a lively local event. Whether participants come to race, walk, ride, or simply cheer from the sidelines, organizers are hoping for a strong turnout and a morning full of smiles… and a few pirate growls! Yarrrr!
Mark May 30 on the calendar, gather your crew, and sail into the day of fun.
