As students trade classrooms for summer adventures, St. Michael’s School in Bow Island looks back on a school year marked by growth, hands-on learning, and strong community spirit.

A Strong Start Under New Leadership

This year marked the first complete year under Principal Jill Weatherhead. Her leadership helped guide students and staff through a busy calendar of academics, activities, and community involvement, setting a steady tone across every grade.

Hands-On Learning That Sticks

St. Michael’s focused on authentic, hands-on learning throughout the year. Students built foundational skills through the UFLI literacy program, high-quality numeracy instruction, and Accelerated Reader access available to every grade.

Beyond the basics, learning came alive in practical ways. Trades workshops gave students real-world skills, while science took on new meaning through egg growing and hatching ,and tower garden growing. These experiences connected lessons to the world outside the classroom.

New Options for Junior High Students

Junior high students enjoyed an expanded slate of options programs this year. New offerings in eSports, carpentry, and Genius projects gave older students fresh ways to explore their interests and develop new talents.

 A Standout April Drama Production

One of the school’s best drama productions took the stage in April. The show stood out not only for its quality but for the full participation of students, who contributed through acting, set building, and prop help. The production reflected the collaborative spirit that defines the school.

 Athletics and Sports
Development

Student-athletes had plenty to celebrate. Participation was strong across the school’s athletics and sports development programs, including volleyball, cross country, hockey, curling, baseball, badminton, and track and field. These programs encouraged teamwork, fitness, and healthy competition all year long.
