Seven Persons’ Premium Sausage has seen a steady stream of business through the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re still busy,” said Debbie Penner, owner.
“It’s changing the way we’re doing orders for customers. We’re doing a lot more in the way of deliveries, curbside pick up, phone and messenger (orders).”
Penner said before the business had been used to more in-store shopping.
“It’s shifting a little bit and that’s OK, we’re just getting used it,” she said.
As for revenue, Penner said the business has been “fortunate,” and she could not say how well they were doing because it is really hard to tell from day-to-day.
“Business is probably better than it was last year at this time,” she said.
“What we’re finding is we’re getting a lot of new customers, a lot of people who have never been here before. This is a good thing for us. We love meeting new people and interacting with customers. That, I hope will have long-term benefits.”
The staff has been split up into two teams in case something happens and the other group can step in.
“We’ve have one team on one week, the other team on the next week,” said Penner.
“Really we have less people on the floor and more work to do.”
Curbside orders can be made anytime during business hours from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
Free deliveries are on Tuesdays and Fridays in the local area, while there is a Thursday drop off to Bow Island.
“We’re doing a lot of them and that’s really good,” said Penner.
“We like that. We like people to feel like they’re safe. We want our customers to feel that they’re shopping in the safest manner for them. It has to be what their comfort level is and more importantly what our staff is comfortable with.”
Protocols are in place with the limit of how many people are in the store at one time, sanitizers and barriers have been installed and employees have been given masks.
The store’s 30th annual Anniversary Sale that was supposed to take place on May 9 with the sale, car show and Family Fun Fair has been cancelled.
There will be sales the week of and on the Saturday in-store.
The business has been doing Facebook gift card giveaways to other businesses
