This year marks a significant milestone for Premium Sausage, as it celebrates its 36th anniversary. The celebration coincides with the Seven Persons Parade and Fun Day on May 9, creating a day filled with community spirit, delicious food, and family-friendly activities!

Premium Sausage is a family owned and operated business that has been a cornerstone of the Seven Persons community for nearly 40 years. Built on a foundation of quality, tradition, and hard work, the business thrives thanks to the dedication of the entire Penner family. Co-owners Debbie and her husband lead the way, while their sons, Nathan and Kurtis, play an integral role in the store’s daily operations. Their full-time commitment and passion have been key to Premium Sausage’s continued success. Together, the family ensures that every product, from their famous smokies and BBQ sausages to their European and local Alberta grocery items, reflects their commitment to excellence and community.

“We have so many local Alberta products on our shelves,” Debbie notes, highlighting jams and jellies from Bow Island’s Erna’s Hobby, and Brandi’s Salsa from Medicine Hat.

She continues, “We are very excited about the anniversary event. It’s a day we get to thank our customers and the community for their patronage, and have a day of fun.”

Premium Sausage is hosting an anniversary sale and, with sponsorship from Western Tractor, providing bouncy castles for the kids. The festivities don’t stop there—right outside the store, an impressive car show will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Last year’s car show featured around 60 classic and unique vehicles.

The Seven Persons Parade and Fun Day, a separate community event, adds even more excitement. The parade, organized by Karen Murray and Angie Derzaph, kicks off at 9:30 a.m. This is followed by a spring market and craft sale, coordinated by Traci Krause and Janet Biemans from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can also enjoy a delicious sausage on a bun from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., showcasing Premium Sausage’s products. Families can also enjoy an open house at the nearby Seven Skies Observatory from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A fundraiser for the Seven Persons Community Church’s children’s program will also be held; and, for those with a sweet tooth, Crowsnest Cones ice cream shop will be open to serve up refreshing treats!

To top it all off, Premium Sausage is offering door prizes, including a bike from CyclePath and gift cards. Entry is free, and winners will be drawn during the event.

“It’s perfect,” Penner said of the day’s alignment with the community celebration. “There are a lot of things happening in Seven Persons, like the parade and other activities, so it’s a great opportunity to bring everyone together.”

With its rich history, dedication to quality, and strong ties to the community, Premium Sausage’s 36th anniversary is a testament to its continued success and local focus. May 9 promises to be a day of gratitude, celebration, and fun for all who attend.
