Bow Island town council passed first reading of amendments to Schedule A of their Utilities Services bylaw at their Jan. 26 regular council meeting after the Highway Three Water Services Commission amended their water rates effective Jan. 1, 2015.
The recommendation was to have water rates increase from $1.62 per cubic meter to $1.72 per cubic meters. The move will increase the Town’s revenue by approximately $700 per month.
After reviewing the Town’s sewer rates, it was recommended that there be an increase of $1 per month for all residential and commercial customers not within Town boundaries. The last time there was an increase to sewer rates was in 2011 when it went up by $3/month.
Amendments to the Town’s Utilities Services bylaw typically is carried out on an annual basis. Only first reading was passed to allow time for ratepayers to provide feedback to the Town.
