With one mile of oiled road that serves 29 residents on Range Road 51 between Highway 41A and TQP road 124, Cypress County council looked into the cost of repairing the road.
The estimated cost to Gravel Lok for the full mile of road would be $50,000 and $125,000 for oil.
The Gravel Lok will take a minimum of three months to cure, and is normally applied in the spring, while the oil is applied in late summer or early fall. The road would then be gravel, with no dust control for three months.
When the Gravel Lok is applied, the road ban would normally still be in effect.
At the council meeting on April. 7, council moved to do the required repairs to the road at an estimated cost of $17, 400, which would involve grading, adding gravel, oiling, packing and patching in the areas that are of concern.
