Prairie Rose School Division’s (PRSD) secretary treasurer Ryan Boser informed the school board that one of two teacherages for new Foremost School teachers is up for sale at the March 13 school board meeting.
A teacherage provides housing and accommodation for new teachers.
“The plan for a number of years now was to reduce a number of teacherage in our division as they weren’t committed like they used to be,” said Boser.
“However at the same time making sure we are having the type of houses in areas that help teachers or support staff come to the towns to gain some experience.”
PRSD was able with the education minister’s approval to obtain real estate services a couple years ago for sales.
The school board of trustees approved the start of the sale process.
The one teacherage has been vacant for over a year, while the other is currently being rented out by a PRSD employee.
School reclamation
PRSD superintendent Roger Clarke said funding has been received for an old portable at Foremost School to be returned to the school’s ownership.
