People will have to wait until next year as the annual Rattlesnake Fall Festival at Golden Sheaf Park, this Saturday, Sept. 5, has been canceled due do COVID-19 restrictions.
“The amount of people is down to 200 people per gathering, you’ve got to be six-feet apart. There is absolutely no way we can have a Fall Festival,” said George Hamel, Park board member.
The impact is significant to the Park’s operations.
“It’s going to be a major blow to our income, “ he said.
“That was our biggest income.”
He estimated “well into the thousands” came for the Park.
There was a beer garden, food sales, a chili cook-off and a band on site during the event.
“(A lot) of stuff came out here,” he said.
“We probably had anywhere from 1,000 to 1,200 people. We became a little town on that weekend.”
The Park board did not consider any modifications to make the festival a go.
“It was all or nothing,” he said.
The Fall Festival plans a return in 2021.
