The County of Forty Mile council voted in favour of Environmental 360 continuing to pick up recycled cardboard in Burdett at their Oct. 27 meeting

The payment from the county to Environmental 360 will be $273 per month which include putting a bin out and dumping every two weeks.

“We had a lot of calls from our rate payers in Burdett with concerns for cardboard,” said Craig Widmer, county reeve.

“And instead of bringing it out to the landfill, we decided to go with this option. It’s hard to take something away from Burdett that they had before.”

Widmer anticipates the service to start back up in the short term.

The decision came after Bow Island discontinued carboard pickup in Burdett on Oct. 15.
