Cypress County council voted in favour of proceeding with engaging with Roderman Enterprises for a sum of $30,000 to oversee the completion of a conceptual design and engineered drawings for the proposed Irvine and District Community Resource Centre at the Jan. 18 council meeting.

“We cannot do anything until we actually  get some drawings and then we can be shovel ready (and) so we can be on the lookout for grants,” said Richard Oster, deputy reeve.

“Roderman Construction—he’s a very qualified red seal carpenter/project manager that can bring this all together and I just don’t want to go through what we went through the last time, where I wasted council’s time on some other drawings and proposals. Blaine (Brost) and I are both on the Irvine Library board and we’re going to be keeping very tight control over the funding and what the project is going to look like and going to be coming back to you (council) quite often.”

The proposed Resource Centre design would include a library, meeting room, the Cypress County Welcome Centre and the campground office.
