The 2026 Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program officially opened on Nov. 4.
Summer jobs play a vital role in helping young people earn money for education and living expenses, while gaining valuable skills, confidence and career experience. When young people are equipped with the tools they need to enter the workforce, our communities and economy grow stronger.
Employers from not-for-profit organizations, the public sector and private sector businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees can apply for funding to hire students next summer. Full-time job placements will become available starting in April 2026.
The federal government has identified its national priorities as: jobs that provide work experience related to construction, green jobs/environmental protection and exposure to technology and digital skills.
Glen Motz, Member of Parliament for Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner has identified local priorities for the riding as: Support for not-for-profit organizations, small businesses, activities offered at the municipal level, agriculture and local and regional tourism development.
“In this time of a deepening youth unemployment crisis, Iet’s empower our young people by assisting them in developing their skills and gaining valuable workplace experience. I would encourage not-for-profit organizations and eligible employers in Medicine Hat–Cardston–Warner to apply.”
