There are currently 112 participants registered for the upcoming Foremost Minor Hockey alumni tournament, with room for more.
The tournament is scheduled for March 16 – 18.
“It’s for anyone that’s ever played hockey or lived in Foremost,” said Blake Klatt, one of the tournament’s organizers.
“You don’t have to have really played hockey here. It’s just if you’re part of the community or whatnot.
“You could have even never played hockey before, as long as you’ve lived here at one point in your life.”
The event is intended to raise funds for a pool expansion and upgrade with a splash park.
“We thought this might be a good way to raise money, get some funds, and get some people who haven’t been in town for a while,” said Klatt.
“Plus, a tournament like this should be good for the whole community. All the local businesses should benefit from it too.
“There will be a lot of out of town people coming in, eating at the restaurant, maybe staying at the hotels.”
Registration is $60, which includes a jersey that’s yours to keep.
“We’re not going to turn anyone away,” said Klatt.
In addition to the registration fee, the event will raise funds from silent auctions, as well as food and drink sales at the arena.
Those interested in signing up can contact Klatt at 403-647-1242, or Tyson Orman at 403-647-1043.
