Seven Persons hosted its annual parade May 10 followed by several activities and events around the community throughout the day.

The parade began at the community hall at 9:30 a.m and made a loop around town before returning back to the community centre.

This year’s parade marshal was Shirly Elliott, who has been recognized for her local volunteer and organizing efforts, as well as her cooking skills for kids that attend the Southern Region 4-H Camp.

Following the parade there was a barbecue with sausage on a bun, with funds raised going toward children programs at the Seven Person’s Church, as well as children’s activities like bouncy castles.

At 11 a.m. Cypress County Fire Service invited the community to attend a grand opening ceremony and tour of the new fire hall, as well as kids activities, recruiting information and a display of fire apparatuses.

The day also fell on the anniversary of the well-known Premium Sausage company, which ran a sale at its Seven Persons location throughout the day which provided guests with door prizes and free cake and coffee.

Crowsnest Cones was open throughout the day for a sweet treat following the barbecue.

Stargazers were also invited to an open house held by Seven Skies Astronomy at the Sunridge Observatory along Range Road 72.
