No matter which faith one does or does not practice, one thing is certain – gospel music stirs the soul. Now, those in and around the Town of Bow Island have a chance to experience how uplifting this genre can be at the upcoming Gospel Jamboree.
Taking place from June 20-22 at Bow Island’s Bert Knibbs Park, guests can enjoy free admission, supper by donation, music, and a spiritual message that will take place before the Jamboree winds down on the last day of the event. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and to enjoy the on-site concession. Donations are used to support the event, with any extra proceeds put to wonderful use in the local community.
There are some very well known, and some newer musicians to enjoy including the D’Friesens, whose ministry includes both music and preaching. The D’Friesens record studio albums in English and Low Country German. Also on the itinerary is the Elias Family. A local gospel band made up of Kevin, Kim, and their four sons, this family has appeared before many audiences and has been on the TV show Tribal Trails. Their gospel music is rooted in bluegrass and has a catchy beat. With Soul’d Out, Rick Plett, the Harder Family, and Prairie College Musicians also making an appearance, this is a Jamboree that any gospel music lover can’t miss.
There is music, food, door prizes, and a like-minded community coming together in what can be the highlight of your summer. To learn more, call 403-952-2645.
