While Randi Belcourt does not have a history in local politics, she is ready and eager to start her journey and continue her passion of giving back to the Bow Island community.

“I have always been interested in what’s happening and keeping up with the projects that are on the go,” shares Belcourt. “It truly amazes me to see the town the way it is now.  I have had the honour of watching this place expand, and would love to be a part of it. “

Belcourt reflects on her reasons for running for council.

“I was born and raised here. Bow Island has always been my home, and I feel like I can be a vital participant in helping to continue to make this town great. I am an active volunteer, sitting on many committees and boards over the years. I also am a researcher; if I don’t know the answer, I will find it!”

She has a unique view of the possible highway bypass, noting, “I feel like we will continue to see growth within our community even with the highway going around. Bow Island is a great place to raise your children and just be in. We all stick together, so I personally feel whatever happens, this town will still thrive.”

Her platform priorities and future-proofing ideas reflect modern needs.

“I would love to see the multi-purpose building built along with a new pool arena and curling rink. How cool would that be for my grandkids in the future to hang out in? I also feel the use of social media (if done correctly) can be a very good tool to bring more business into town. We have been doing so many new things, like the BBQ contest, that are bringing in so many people from all over the place.”

Belcourt concludes, “Bow Island is just awesome, and I can’t wait to be a part of all the fun new developments!”
